Water Tower Proposal could raise Privacy & Overlooking Issues

Adrian says that the latest proposal for refurbishment of the Water Tower on Tower Hill in Ormskirk could raise privacy and overlooking issues.

A Liverpool-based architect has submitted a planning application for a single residential dwelling on top of the existing Water Tower on Tower Hill where the water tank used to be situated.

Adrian said, “I led opposition to a 2007 proposal for 7 flats at the Water Tower and I said then that a single residential dwelling was economically possible. So I’m pleased that this latest application is not for flats.”

“This application seeks to increase the height of the Tower with extensive glazing and balconies on all four sides. I would expect that this could cause privacy and overlooking issues with Derby Ward residents and would like them to have the opportunity to respond to the consultation. Many households are not contacted directly by the Planning Department and will be unaware of the current application.”

Adrian pointed out that people who wanted to comment on the development proposal for this prominent building on the town’s skyline must do so by 4th January to the Borough Council quoting Ref: 2016/1136/FUL.
