Great news from Birchwood Centre AGM

Adrian is proud to be a trustee of the Birchwood Centre, based in Birch Green in Skelmersdale but serving the whole of West Lancashire.

At the charity's AGM last week, Stella Connell, Director of the Centre announced the great news that the Centre has received funding of almost £500,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to develop and expand its mediation services.

Adrian said, “The Centre has successfully piloted family mediation work in Skelmersdale. The results have been positive in preventing the breakdown in family relationships which so often lead to homelessness for young people. With over 50 young people needing our accommodation services last year, the more we can do to prevent crisis situations in the first place. Our bid was entitled "Mediation makes a Difference". The pilot work demonstrated that and the Big Lottery Fund were able to see Clearly the positive impact in preventing further family breakdown."

Adrian concluded by saying that anyone interested in the work of the Centre should take a look at the Centre's website. "We are always looking to raise awareness of our work with vulnerable young people among the wider community", he said.
