Adrian asks: Where were the other candidates?

Adrian, who is standing as Conservative candidate in this week's local elections, has attacked his election opponents for failing to turn up at a specially arranged election hustings for students at Edge Hill University.

Adrian was the only candidate at the event. The Labour candidate, who lives on campus, did not attend and did not send a representative. There was also a no show from the other candidates or their parties.

Adrian said,“It is very poor that none of my opponents, or their representatives, were in attendance at this important event. It was particularly disappointing that Labour, whose candidate is a student himself and lives on campus at Edge Hill, couldn't be bothered to turn up. This proves they are not interested in listening to students and take them for granted. It's clear they'd rather hide behind their misleading leaflets rather than debate the real local issues face to face in front of local voters."

"Edge Hill is an important part of Derby Ward and, despite the no show from other parties, I was delighted to attend the hustings and answer questions from students. I'd also like to thank Billy Jones from the Students' Union for organising the event."
